Fire Prevention Division

The Fire Prevention Division of Kentfield Fire Protection District is here to help!  If you have questions about fire codes, fire permits, defensible space requirements, evacuation planning, or emergency power systems and equipmnet, please do not hesitate to contact our office or send us an email at lpasero@kentfieldfire.org.

Fire Prevention efforts are the most effective means for community risk reduction an loss of life and property due to fire.  Our mission is to assist in the preservation of life and property by advocating, promoting, and providing leadership in the prevention and mitigation of fire and other related hazardous conditions.

At the heart of any code enforcement program is an adopted fire code and related standards.  It is the adopted fire code and the adopted standards that the Fire Prevention Division derives its authority. Codes and standards establish minimum requirements, but should not prevent or discourage someone from exceeding the minimum requirement.

Fire Prevention efforts play an important part in the fire district activities.  Over the years, the public has developed certain expectations of the Fire District to identify and abate fire hazards in the community. We appreciate the input from our citizens including their concerns about possible fire hazards in their neighborhood and our community.

Please contact the Fire Prevention Division if you have any questions reagrding fire prevention, building construction, defensible space and general safety practices!

Respectfully,

Larry Pasero
Deputy Fire Marshal

Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Products

Starting January 2008, the 2007 California Building Code (CBC) became effective with the inclusion of Wildland Urban Interface building standards. To help identify products to be used in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), and in av effort to provide homeowners, industries, designers, local fire and building officials a readily list of “compliance WUI products,” the State Fire Marshal is publishing this interactive, online “WUI Building Materials Listing.”

Click here to view approved WUI building products.

All products listed have been reviewed and verified their compliance in accordance with the 2019 CBC by SFM staff. All products listed are “approved” by the SFM. Materials are not “listed” unless a SFM Listing number is attached.  Please note that some products not listed may still comply with the standards since it is not a requirement for any products to be in this handbook.
